The cities in Nigeria are quite expensive, mostly because of their natural resources, tourist attraction, cost of hotels, agricultural products, marketing and even the cost of food.

10. ENUGU

Located in the Southeastern part of Nigeria, with a population estimated to be around 1 million inhabitants. The state is known for their coal mining, and a huge hub for commercialization. They are regarded as one of the most expensive places in Nigeria, because important and prominent places like the University of Nigeria, Mercedes automobile assembly plants, and Bottling companies are situated in the city. 

 And the cost of living is mildly expensive with about 500,000 naira for a 3 bedroom apartment.

9. ABA

A popular city in Abia state, known for their high rates of commerce and marketing. Most people in this part of the country are known to be entrepreneurs. Aba is rich in crude oil, textiles, palm oil, plastics, and cement. Places like Ariaria international market, which is also the second largest market in west Africa, Heineken brewery and Glass production companies are also located in this city. Due to the industrialization in this area, the housing prices elevated to about #480,000 for a 2 bedroom apartment. 

8. CALABAR

The capital of Cross river. The city is said to have one of the richest cultural heritage sites in Nigeria, and also rated as one of the best tourist attractions in Nigeria. Also, the popular Miss Africa competition is hosted in this state annually. The city has one of the major rivers in Nigeria used for shipping of goods and exportations.

7. OWERRI

The capital of Imo state and one of the most popularand expensive cities in Nigeria. Most people in this city are into business, while some manage hotels, bars and clubs. 

In addition to that, the city is also known for their agriculture, crude oil and natural gas, they are also well known for participating and winning pageantries. The city’s richness in natural resources and luxury has made them one of the most expensive places to live in Nigeria.

6. ASABA 

The capital of Delta State. One of the most expensive cities in Nigeria, and also one of the most beautiful states in Nigeria. This city is one of the best places to spend your holidays or go on vacations. They’re known for their hotels, clubs and expensive social lifestyle. The famous Niger- Onitsha bridge is also situated there.

5. KADUNA

Located in the northern region of Nigeria, blessed with fertile soil, and favorable weather for farming. They are major contributors in the production of textiles, steel, plastics, leather, furniture and petroleum. Important agricultural products like cotton, ginger, and groundnut are also produced in this state. 

4. WARRI

The biggest city in Delta with a population of 557,398 inhabitants. Known commonly for their widely used pidgin language and trade schools. They are one of the most producing oil cities in Nigeria, and the biggest investors in oil companies. 

3. PORT-HARCOURT 

The fifth largest city in Nigeria and the capital of Rivers state. The first state where crude oil was discovered and since then, they have attracted many investors, the likes of Shell, Chevron and Total. The state also attracts thousands of tourists every year which makes them stand out in terms of visitors’ popularity. When it comes to the cost of living, Port Harcourt is 35% cheaper than Lagos.

The country’s capital. The cost of living in this state is about 3 million naira for a 3 bedroom apartment. The apartments are not only the expensive things there, but their foodstuffs and cost of transportation has a high range of price. However, the city is occupied by many top government officials including the president . The city also has an amazing nightlife.

The mega city of Nigeria, with a population estimated to be over 20 million inhabitants, and very well known for their jamming traffic. Lagos is  home to many businesses, companies, industries, expensive hotels and clubs.  The city is also occupied with celebrities, government personnel, and also people from all over the world. Lagos also has the largest seaport in Africa.
