7 Grooming Hacks Most Men Don’t Know

All men want to look good. But none of us want to spend more time than is absolutely necessary in front of the bathroom mirror each morning. Which is why we’ve compiled this list of handy, life-enhancing grooming tips for looking your best. Consider it your cheat sheet for fixing up.

1. Brushing your teeth

If you want to get the best out of brushing your teeth, don’t brush your teeth immediately after eating and here’s why; when you first finish eating, the acid level in your mouth is very elevated. Do you know when the enamel on your teeth is at its most vulnerable? It is when there’s a lot of acid going around. If you brush your teeth immediately, you’re just grinding that acid onto your teeth, which is not a good idea.

What you want to do instead is wait about an hour after eating before you brush your teeth. This gives time for the saliva in your mouth to wash the food away and balance the ph level in your mouth. Then you can get the best out of brushing your teeth. If you want to do the best job of maintaining those pearly whites, don’t brush your teeth immediately after eating.

2. Body washes vs Bar soaps

Instead of washing yourself with a bar soap, we recommend that you exchange that bar soap for body wash. A body wash can be much better for you in a lot of ways. For one, a body wash lathers much better and it doesn’t strip away the moisture in your skin like a bar soap does. Using the bar soap when you shower easily leads to dry skin.

In fact most body washes have a moisturizing component making your skin even softer and they come in a wide range of scents specifically made for guys. In addition, a lot of body washes also exfoliate your skin making it even smoother. On top of that, body washes tend to be more hygienic than a bar of soap. Those germs and bacteria from that shared bar or soap won’t happen with the body wash. Because body washes have become more popular over the last several years, we have a wide range of body watches to choose from.

3. Extending time between each haircut

If you want to make that haircut last longer, shave the hair on the back of your neck. One of the first signs you’ll see when you need a new haircut is the hair growing back on your neck. You want to give the illusion that you’ve had a haircut more recently.

4. Toenails and Fingernails

Make sure you’re always cleaning and clipping your toenails and your fingernails. These areas are often overlooked and if you maintain them, not only will they look good, you’ll greatly reduce the chance of dirt buildup that can lead to infection. Not to mention, people will notice if you take care of your hands and feet. Clip your nails right after you take a shower. That’s because the moisture from the shower will soften your nails making it easier to clip them. This is especially helpful for people with very hard toenails. They’ll be much easier to clip softened up.

5. Exfoliation

This is a part of the grooming routine most guys skip all together or aren’t even aware of. Most guys don’t exfoliate and that’s because most of us fellas don’t even know what exfoliating is or what the benefits are. Let’s start with what it is in the first place. Exfoliating is when you use a scrub; either facial or body scrub to remove the dead skin cells that can accumulate on the top layer of your skin.

As your body is producing new fresher, brighter skin cells underneath the surface, the dead skin cells on the top can stop the new ones from appearing. When you exfoliate, the scrub removes those dead skin cells from the top layer letting those newer, fresher, brighter skin cells come to the surface. If you want to take your skin care routine to the next level, start exfoliating.

6. Washing your hair

Most guys wash their hair much too often. A lot of guys actually wash their hair every day. That’s not a good idea because when you wash your hair too much, it strips your hair of its natural moisture. Washing your hair too much can also lead to dry scalp and irritation now. How often should you wash your hair? For most guys, two to three times a week is enough.

7. Antiperspirant

Now if you’re like most of us, you put your antiperspirant on in the morning. Guess what? it’s much better to put your antiperspirant on the night before. here’s why; your antiperspirant works by closing up the sweat ducts under your arm. It does this better in about 24 to 48 hours. Most of us who apply our antiperspirant in the morning are not giving the antiperspirant time to actually work.

On top of the fact that your sweat glands are more active in the morning, you’re more apt to actually sweat your antiperspirant off before it can even start to work. Especially for people who sweat a little bit more than the average guy.
