Blaqbonez transforms into Asake, Oxlade and Ayra Starr in new visuals for “Back In Uni”

The 26-year-old Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez collaborated with Jae5, one of Ghana’s top producers, on the infectious tune “Back In Uni,” which features enticing melodies and lyrics about winning hearts, luring women, and defeating his rivals. The accompanying music video, which Blaqbonez and Perliks jointly directed, is what really captures attention.

The graphics, which have nothing to do with the words, are a witty homage to Nigerian music videos and pop culture references that are now popular. Here is a brief explanation.

Oxlade’s COLORS performance of his huge hit “Ku Lo Sa” has been virtually impossible to miss in recent months, and Blaqbonez provides us a faithful recreation of his viral motions. In “Girlfriend,” Blaqbonez also assumes the role of Ruger while sporting a pirate eye patch and pink hair.

Because Blaqbonez convincingly portrays the “Bandana” singer while sporting silver grillz and making all the necessary facial movements for the camera, it is obvious that Mr. Money himself did not manage to flee. The rapper did not hold back when mentioning a music clip for Ayra Starr’s most recent hit, “Rush,” and he is hilarious in a platinum blonde wig.

Additionally, Blaqbonez makes references to African Giant Burna Boy’s latest “high-waisted” Dazed cover, Wizkid’s black-and-white artwork for “Bad To Me,” as well as Internet star Portable and comedian Carter Efe.

The “Back In Uni” videos will undoubtedly raise interest in Blaqbonez’ next album Young Preacher. This 13-track album comes after the popular Sex Over Love album and a collaborative mixtape with Nigerian rappers A-Q and M.I. Abaga. Young Preacher, which is scheduled to drop on October 21st and feature unspecified features, is expected to be a project with “rap, reggaeton, and trap” influences.
