RIPLEY’S CONFIRMS THE MARILYN MONROE DRESS WASN’T DAMAGED BY KIM KARDASHIAN

After showing up to the MET GALA last month in the iconic dress Marilyn Monroe wore to sing happy birthday to President John F. Kennedy in 1962, there’s been countless rumors stating how Kim Kardashian has caused permanent damage to the legendary dress.

Historians and Textile Conservators have also shown their disapproval of Ripley’s letting Kim Kardashian wear the dress in the first place. They believe an iconic dress such as that, should only be showcased at museums, and not worn to fashion events. But so far, Ripley’s company has taken to their website to post a statement saying,  “No matter which side of the debate you are on, the historical importance of the dress has not been negated, but rather highlighted. An entirely new group of young people have now been introduced to the legacy of Marilyn Monroe. “Kim Kardashian wearing the ‘Happy Birthday’ dress has been hotly contested, but the fact remains that she did not, in any way, damage the garment in the short amount of time it was worn at the Met Gala,”

They also revealed Kim Kardashian only wore the dress for the red carpet at the MET GALA, and immediately changed into a replica of dress for the main event, then had the original dress taken back to California on her private jet. With this said, no damage was made to the dress during the short period it was worn by Kim Kardashian.
