Sola Sobowale and Broda Shaggi land Bollywood roles

Sola Sobowale, Nollywood star, and comedian Broda Shaggi have been cast in a Netflix original Bollywood film directed by Hamisha Daryani.

On Wednesday, the 56-year-old actress announced the information on Instagram.

She wrote: “I am so excited to announce that I will be working with record-breaking Director/Exec Producer @HamishaDaryaniAhuja on her upcoming project! And… get this….we will be going to India to film! I will play a very dynamic role in this project and cannot wait for you to watch it”.

Producer Ms. Daryani justified the decision to cast the legendary actress in the lead position in the untitled film by calling her a legend. “When I decided to cast her, I wondered if she would share my vision for this project…and she did! Aunty Sola (as I call her) will bring her top-notch professional acting to the project and, more importantly, her beautiful energy. You’ll get to see her in a role that further showcases her acting range!”

The film will star a number of well-known actors and be totally filmed in India.

While Broda Shaggi had a cameo in Ms Daryani’s film “NamasteWahala,” Ms Sobowale was playing her first Bollywood movie role.

A Nollywood actor has previously appeared in Bollywood films. Zainab Balogun appeared in the 2012 Indian film “Cocktail” alongside well-known Indian actors like Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan, long before she became well-known in Nigeria.

Daniel Lloyd starred in the Indian film “JUDE” that same year.

Samuel Robinson and renowned Indian actor Soubin Shahir co-starred in the 2018 film “Sudani from Nigeria.”

For the first time, Bollywood and Nollywood, two of the greatest film businesses in the world, have joined forces to make a film.

In 2020, both sectors collaborated to create the romantic comedy “Namaste Wahala.”

The movie is hailed as the first Nollywood and Bollywood joint production.

The movie’s primary actors were Bollywood stars Segal Sujata and Ruslaan Mumtaz.
