STYLE EVOLUTION (WIZKID)

We think it’s safe to say that the days of Wizkid putting his trousers way below his waist and combining it with a round neck, plain colourful tee and a snapback are over.

Wizkid was still young and naive in fashion at the beginning of his career, but little did we know that the young and talented Wizkid from Ojuelegba will become a subject matter for everyone when it comes to fashion in music.

No one suspected he’d be able to make iconic fashion statements that’ll still be talked about for decades to come. Currently, no one talks about fashionable artists in Nigeria and not include Wizkid, his style transitioned right before our eyes into something unexpected.

Now, the “Made in Lagos” crooner is seen all over the world at prestigious fashion events, and even walking the runway for the luxurious fashion brand Dolce and Gabbana. Wizkid has chosen a niche style for himself, and has followed that path consistently and has done it with ease.

His style is very comfortable and easy to rock, as his looks include a lot of vintage, sweat shirts and loose clothings. Basically, Wizkid’s style screams ‘No stress’ as he has often said he isn’t a fan of stress, so it’s only normal that his style is stress free.

He is very detailed with his accessories as he keeps them toned down to fit his outfits. It is without a doubt Wizkid’s music has influenced the international space but that’s not all, his sense of style has also gained him recognition in the global fashion space as he has gotten amazing deals to collaborate with brands like Nike, Moschino and Puma.

He has also been associated with big names in the fashion industry like Naomi Campbell, Virgil Abloh and others. In an interview with Vogue magazine, Wizkid added “I intentionally spend as much time as I do on my music and also my image” this confirms that Wizkid’s flawless style wasn’t attained over night.

In 2017, Wizkid broke the internet in a Gucci ensemble, for his performance in Lagos. The outfit was compared to the outfit the Legendary pop star Micheal Jackson, wore back in 1979 for his short film titled “Rock with you”

Wizkid has become a fashion Icon in Nigeria, as he continues to showcase his undeniable unique sense for style.

As Wizkid continues to grow in music and in fashion it is safe to say it’ll only get more iconic.
