We see some of our favorite Ghanaian celebrities drip in different looks and we think to ourselves ” I wanna look like that” but sometimes, we don’t know the brilliant masterminds behind these looks. People are always quick to appreciate designs and brands and often forget the people that managed to pick out the perfect pieces to combine and create an entire look.
We’re taking you to Ghana, to introduce you to our Top Ghanaian stylists, these stylists have been associated with big names in the music, movie, and fashion industry, so without further ado, here are our Top 5 Ghanian stylists.
1. KELVINCENT ( Style God)
A strong believer in the saying “Less is more” as he follows this saying strictly when styling his clients. He didn’t call himself a “Style God” for no reason, as he is a two time glitz style award winner for stylist of the year. He was also featured in British Vogue for using the #VogueChallenge to send a message across and tackle the issue of islamophobia, racism and the general portrayal of Arab women as weak and voiceless. He has styled many A-list stars like Yvonne Nelson, Toke Makinwa, Efya, Naa Morkhor and other famous names.
2. JASON BOATENG
He is referred to as the Style Oracle for many obvious reasons, his creativity is being felt around the world and has also gotten international celebrities interested in his work. He has gone on to style big names such as Toni Braxton, Rihanna, Serayah and others. In an interview with a magazine, he stated it takes him less than two days to create or design a look from scratch. He’s known for also being a personal shopper for top fashion retailers like Ted Baker and Tommy Hilfiger.
3. KULA PERRY
Asides from being one of the most loved celebrity stylists in Ghana, he is also the creative director for his own street wear brand “KulaPerryOutlook”. Kula Perry is known to have a very bold and expressive sense of style, his merch collection FearNoMan featured designs to honor the late Virgil abloh, and Nina Simone. He often works with celebrities like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Pappy Kojo and other notable Ghanian celebrities for photoshoots and video shoots.
4. MAMOUD HAMID VIJAY
The mastermind behind the style of Ghanaian rap genius Okyeama Kwame. Mamoud has led his clients to winning awards for their very interesting style. His impact in styling is felt all over the country as he turns his clients into very stylish people.
5. STYLED BY TOBI
Ghanian style gem, responsible for some of the magnificent looks we saw from the beautiful award winning actress, Juliet Ibrahim, back in 2017. He also went on to style Victoria Lebene for the Glitz Style award also in 2017 where she ended up on many best dressed lists after the night.
