Chelsea part ways with manager Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel has been fired as Chelsea’s head coach after six Premier League games. Brighton has granted the club permission to talk with Graham Potter, who is scheduled to meet Todd Boehly this afternoon.

Chelsea is rumored to have made it clear that they are willing to pay Brighton’s exit clause amount. The club is also eager to chat with unemployed coaches Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane.

Only three months after completing his ownership of the club, Boehly fired Tuchel in a face-to-face meeting. According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea has been thinking about this for a while and this move is not a reaction to their Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday, which co-owners Boehly and Behdad Eghbali also attended.

Thomas Tuchel lost his position as a result of a deteriorating working relationship with the owners, who tried their best to make things work with the German but were unsuccessful. Additionally, Tuchel and several players had a deteriorating relationship, which is common and occurs at most clubs.

Boehly is still serving in that capacity despite replacing Roman Abramovich’s era’s director Marina Granovskaia, chairman Bruce Buck, and technical and performance advisor Petr Cech this summer. Chelsea revamped Tuchel’s roster in summer by spending a one-window Premier League record of £273 million on Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The owners think they had a great window and that a new coach will get even more from the players. They have been considering other choices because they have been worried for a while. They are now seeking a long-term hire who shares their goals for the club in order to advance Chelsea.

Chelsea has 10 points and is now ranked sixth in the Premier League after victories over Everton, Leicester, and West Ham; a 2-2 tie with Tottenham; and losses at Leeds and Southampton.
