Mobo Awards: Best African Music Acts. List of Nigerian Nominees

The Mobo awards (Music of Black Origin) is an annual British award show honouring achievements of black artistes cutting across several genres of music from Hip Hop, RnB, Soul to Grime, African music, etc. The award which has been celebrating black music excellence since 1996, will be held in Coventry on the 5th of December 2021.
Afro pop has become more mainstream on the global music stage garnering a lot of new fans and music lovers from different corners of the globe. The African singers that has been able to get nominated for this year’s MOBO awards include Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Ckay, Tems and Tiwa savage. However, Wizkid and Burna Boy were winners at the 2020 MOBO awards that was streamed live on YouTube. Wizkid bagged an award for the best African Act, while Burna boy went home with an award for being the best international act.
Founder and CEO of MOBO awards, Kanya King CBE explained that “The past 20 months have been extremely challenging for artists everywhere”
“As always, we will see creatives rise up and adapt, even with the global pandemic”, she added.
This year’s awards will feature the first Drill Act music category as organizers have vowed to “recognize the cultural and urgent force that the genre has become over the last few years”.
MOBO Awards Date
The MOBO awards will be held on Sunday, 5th of December, at the Coventry Building Society Arena. It will also be streamed live on YouTube.
