KENDRICK LAMAR’S $3 MILLION ICED OUT CROWN OF THORNS

The heavily diamond encrusted crown of thorns was first spotted at the concluded Glastonbury Festival last month, where Kendrick Lamar performed tracks from his most recent album “Mr Morale and The Big Steppers”. After being interviewed backstage of the festival, the price of the diamond crown was confirmed to be in the 7 figure range which sold for $3 million.

Referred to as the modern crown of thorns, similar to the one worn by Jesus during the crucifixion, it was hand created by four different professional diamond craftsman at jewelry empire, “Tiffany and Co.” The custom made crown took a total of 10 months, while taking over 1,300 hours to be handcrafted to perfection. The elements of the 50 thorn crown includes 8,000 cobblestone micro pave diamonds, consisting of over 137 carat, with an estimated weight of 200g.

Kendrick’s Creative Director, Dave Free also had a hand in the creation of the diamond crown with Tiffany and Co’s craftsmen.

“The crown is a godly representation of hood philosophies told from a digestible youthful lens,” pgLang co-founder Dave Free told British Vogue.

During Kendrick Lamar’s performance at Glastonbury Festival, he said to the crowd “I wear this [crown] as a representation so you’ll never forget one of the greatest prophets to ever walk the Earth.” He continued saying, “We gon’ continue to try our best to walk in his image.”

The headline grabbing crown also made an appearance in the front row of the Louis Vuitton 2023 Spring/Summer runway show in Paris, where he paid tribute to the late Art director of the brand “Virgil Abloh.”
