Portable Disqualified by Headies Due To Threat To Co-Nominees’ Lives

Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, was removed from consideration for The Headies Awards 2022 on Tuesday due to threats made against his fellow nominees.

The Headies announced on social media that Portable was removed from the list of nominees in order to send a clear message that reckless and impolite words are not acceptable.

The organizers claim that Portable was disqualified as a result of several offenses on his social media accounts.

Remember that on May 25, 2022, he threatened to kill, hurt, or otherwise negatively affect the other contenders for the same prizes he was up for if he did not win.

When The Headies announced the nominations for its 2022 edition, Portable was selected to compete in the “Rookie of the Year” and “Best Street-Hop Artiste” categories.

Av, Fave, Magixx, and Ugocci are among the other contenders for “Rookie of the Year.” He competes in the second division alongside people like Bella Shmurda, Mohbad, Naira Marley, and Goya Menor.

The “Zazu” singer announced on his Instagram page that the prize was his and that everyone who tried to compete with him would die.

But after hearing Portable’s comments, the Awards’ organizers quickly responded, saying: “We have informed the Nigerian police of Mr. Okokiola’s activities to fellow nominees.” A written apology to the nominees in both categories as well as to The Headies has also been demanded, along with the immediate withdrawal of the video.
