Top Nigerian performer Davido has criticized DJ Maphorisa for crediting Wizkid and Burna Boy for Amapiano’s success in Africa

The argument started when a Twitter user who appeared to be a fan of Davido wrote that Davido introduced Amapiano to Nigeria and popularized the genre after appearing on Focalistic’s “K-Star” remix.

The tweet confirmed that Wizkid’s most recent single, “Bad For Me,” was a last-ditch effort to score a success following Davido’s alleged importation of the South African style.

Davido tweeted in response to the DJ, “You’ve never liked me y? I’ve always been good to you. Anyways! AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY NOW!!! Chu chu chu chu chu.”

The remark sparked a variety of responses from Twitter users, with Wizkid and Davido fans debating the genre’s history in relation to the two artists.

Davido’s brother Adewale Adeleke has now teamed up to criticize DJ Maphorisa, posting on his Twitter account that despite his attempts to put “on an endless amount of musicians & producers,” some of them choose to trash him.

The tweet reads, “My brother put on a countless number of artists & producers only for “some” of them to disrespect him. There’s a reason why he’s still here and y’all fell off…”
