The Balenciaga 2023 Spring show was held last night in New York with music, fashion and pop culture elites in attendance. The show began receiving a lot of buzz from the show invitation which was a stack of faux 100 dollar notes.
This wasn’t a surprise as Balenciaga has been known to go above and beyond the norms in fashion, this also dates back to their iPhone 6 inscribed invitation for their Autumn/Winter show earlier this year.
For this year’s spring show, and for Balenciaga’s first show ever in New York, they tapped into the elements of the New York Stock exchange market, with the models strutting around the trading room, in over 60 different looks, the show was like never seen before.
The models all walked in Balenciaga signature head to toe masked style, all mimicking Kim Kardashian’s 2021 MET GALA look, with body con latex pieces and few neon colored pieces showcased on the runway. Trench coats also made an appearance on the runway at the show, as trench coats are one of the essential pieces for the spring season, it was no surprise they would be showcased at a spring runway show.
And for the first time, Balenciaga revealed their collaboration collection with Adidas. The collection featured Adidas famous three striped track suit with a lower case Balenciaga spelt out on them, over sized tees, Adidas x Balenciaga soccer jerseys, bomber jackets, and duffle bags.
